New idea ?

As usual someone probably has done this but I'll toss it out anyway. On light action rods or in place of intricate butt wraps try this: Apply a thin level coat of finish epoxy about four or five inches on the butt section. While rotating at about 20 rpm dip a sharp pointed object into some gold leaf craft paint and apply a very small drop to the fresh epoxy at several different areas. The droplets will start spreading and result in a marble like or spider web pattern so don't apply the paint droplets too close together. I have used various colors, silver, red or green for some interesting designs. No two every comes out the same. Bracket the area off with some appropriate trim wraps after it hardens and recoat the whole area. This may sound a little garish to some of you but I have several customers who love it and insist that it be done on all their rods. The epoxy must be very fresh and not starting to thicken. The applied droplets must be very small and not too close together or they will join up. Capt. Harold Re: New idea ?

JB Rods out of Virginia Beach had a couple of these rods at the Conclave. I believe he had one done up in Red, White and Blue. Jesse does a great job. I also believe the whole rod was done in the fashion you mentioned. Re: New idea ?

That's the craft side of rodbuilding that I search this board for, sounds like a good R& D project for tomorrow...Thanks for sharing that. I'm always looking to re-invent the buttwrap into something more pallettable and interesting.......Thanks again Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
