I've been doing them like this for a few years and really don't understand all the posts about off center and tear outs, etc. Sometimes I flip the ring and run though the back side but usually don't bother. Quick and easy

I get tear outs on the backside when I do it like this. TOm posted or told me to put something behind whatever I'm reaming, adn that did the trick for me.

I think the speed of the bit makes a huge difference. If I try to do it slow, it tears out. Otherwise, I do it like Mike.
