Mike your skills with Autocad are totally flip me out! What Ver is the software up to - I retired at 13.0 - really good design modeling. If you could spec that one out with a hard nylon or cross linked poly frame we are all in business! Maybe a spot weld for graphite bond interfaced is on yout radar as well. I think we are all dreaming if we think the riser edges on existing frames are radiused as you show on the new purple one - maybe some one in the far east will see this hand bring them to market in 90 days! No telling what the name of your new design will be called by some sales department.

I like most started with AutoCAD have never used a 3D version. This was modeled in ProEngineer Wildfire 4.0, took about 10-15 min total. The idea of using a super high strength plastic is interesting, it would certainly solve lots of corrosion issues for the salt water users, but I haven’t kept up with the state of the art on materials that cant be used at 1400ºF or higher continuous. We use lots of MIM or Metal Injection Molded parts in our VTG turbos, you can produce parts with very complex geometry very precisely.

Very clever design, but I think I have a design modification that would make it easier to produce with limited retooling. Take a standard fly guide, and extend the neck about 2 mm (a small penalty in height from the blank). The small spike could then be stamped from the neck area of the guide and remain in front as the ring is bent up.

I would jump all over this design if it were offered. I don't like to do the security wrap on the micro guides and I try hard to keep the finish on the thread only not the guide so a fly guide can occasionally come out. That design would definitely solve this issue. Great idea, and amazing execution with the CAD program.
