Rod support for new rig. I was going to use aluminum but it was quite difficult without a mill or drill press. I found these hard, light plastic chunks at work and it turns out the stuff is very easy to work with and is plenty strong. The black knob on the bottom right provides verticle adjustment and the gold colored screw sticking up and angling to the right lowers the top wheel. The bottom support is threaded and when the screw is loosened, the lock nut starts to push up on the top support and brings the wheel down. I will epoxy a knob on it for easier use. The wheels are made from the wife's cutting board. I rough cut them out, drilled the center to press fit the bearings (5/8), then mounted three at a time on a 5/8" bolt with large washers on either side to sandwich them. Then I chucked it up in the headstock on my wrapper and turned them down so they are concentric. Then I just made a small groove for the o-ring. The support is mounted on the aluminum profile and slides all the way down the base. The teflon type bushings keep everything tight but allows for super smooth travel. No need to clamp into position.
