herb: I use rubber bands also. I buy them buy the bag. Cut in half, wrap around the blank 3" above the guide position, then tie a double knot. Trim ends, then roll to position. Works on all size guides.

Bill, I used to use surgical tubing until I saw this method, it works pretty good for me. After you have the straw collars on the rubber bands you just slide them into place on the blank, put the guide foot under the rubber band, pull on the tag ends to stretch the rubber band and slide the collar up to tighten, after you make enough wraps to hold the guide on just reverse the process, on bigger guides, depending on how long the rubber band is you might have to remove the piece of straw to remove the rubber band from the guide.
