I used to grind guides that much, and coat them with a variety of things. For me all that did was lead to the guide discoloring in a heartbeat. Good luck!!

Thanks, Billy, that's good to know. These guides, and the other ones I posted that were painted I am putting on a black blank with black thread - going for that "all in one" look and just did not want where I had ground showing through. Although I was considering for all guide work. This is good to know and I will give that a lot of consideration for the future. Thanks again.

If, and I stress IF - the guides do discolor or rust, you will not really be able to tell since they are being wrapped with Black thread. I've done a few with 1011 grey, 037 Blue, and 6779 yellow and200 Orange - which look AWFUL. All guides will rust/discolor unless Titanium, butI found when I did significant grinding like this it happened much, much quicker. I'm not saying that will happen to you, it's just something you might want to look for asyou fish the rods over a period of time.

No, Billy, thanks. I appreciate you passing this information on - that's good to know. I was considering painting back black on ALL when I prep. I will keep the potential of discoloration in mind as I am considering thread choices as well. Hadn't thought of this until you mentioned it - good to know.

This is why I like chrome ;^) Thanks again for the help.
