The advent of similar guide types in 2 or 3 different heights allows custom builders to do things with guide systems not previously possible. These are some new Pacific Bay prototypes that Vic Cutter sent out - they will be available in at least 3 different heights per ring size.
The photo shows a #25 ring butt guide backed immediately by the same type guide in a higher frame version putting a #10 ring directly into the center of the #25. This gets the line under control very quickly. From there plot the line path as normal for the NGC from the #10 down to the choker. This can often be done on the very next guide. Keep an open mind and try it for yourself. What looks odd or unconventional often proves to be an advancement.

You know I like this concept Tom and I do understand the principal behind this second guide placement. This is not unlike that expensive microwave spinning guide I was viewing last night. They want a lot of money for the guide....with the same principle in mind for faster line control on the spinning reel action! This seems like a great way to go for just that reason. In my eyes it looks conventional and not really gaudy at all . Clean in fact !

You can experiment with different ring sizes and positions relative to each other. However, if you already have a good guide system in place now, this isn't going to add a great deal of distance, if any. You will, however, find it to be very smooth and quiet.
