Not really certain what you are trying to show here.

Size matters - the hammer handle shape is correct for someone that uses a tool all day - the flats on the side are there for a purpose - the shape positions the fingers for a curl in a position that will not cut off circulation and still provide a firm grip and secure - I can not post a high res picture to show everyting I wanted too - this seat is large enough to properly fill the hand for long term comfort and has flat sides (it is not round) - cut down to remove 35% of initial wt - front short enough to finger touch blank. I started off using size 16 round spin seats (uncomfortable and actually cut off circulation in fingers with long term use) and have progressively gotten larger and larger. Stan McClean posted a picture the other day showing a flat spin seat and Tom Kirkman noted "filling the hand was important from an ergonometric standpoint. They were right! This one started out as a Fuji 18 Palm support and I have some 20s on order to see just how much larger you can go without impacting the weight issue of the light drop shot and shaky head rods using micro guides.

He's showing it from an ergonomic standpoint. Seats are standard DPSD, in 16, 17, and 18. Functional ergonomics from changing to a size 18 NPS seat, akin in shape to the hammer handle. NPS trimmed at the fixed hood end, and the threaded barrel shortened, for weight reduction.

But Bill, you forgot the No-foregrip!

Nice idea Bill. A hammer that is used all day and fells good in the hand. Now make a seat like the handle. I like the thought.

Guilty as charged!! I am serious about taking the thoughts and ideas of others seriously and putting them to use, where applicable, to build a better rod! The real use of the hammer will be to "Bop" those who resist "change" and demand conventional concepts!

Bill you should also try the Fuji VSS 17. You can shape both the cork or Eva part to fit your hand.

Hahaha, Bill you crack me up sometimes, but I always tune in.... especially now, when the focus is on spinning rods.

The VSS 17 is a good seat, but there's little bits they missed again. I am currently doctoring one and setting up a new grip that should be pretty sweet.

...so I get an anvil stuck on a 10 foot drill rod and go to unjamify it with a 3 lb hammer. A chip of hardened steel one quarter inch in diameter flys off the anvil at high velocity and imbeds itself into my face. The doctor removed the foreign object for me and I keep it rattling around in a Tic Tac container to remind me that theres ALWAYS A BETTER WAY to remove an anvil from a 10 foot drill rod.
