The esiest way to glue up the chevron is to glue it with two halves and a straight surface to help with the alignment.

Mark,
I am putting the sled together (finally) for cutting and assembling the ellipticals and need to know the measurement of the cleats (height for both pieces together). I had some leftover 1/2" baltic birch to make the sled and am using it for all pieces. It also looks like you have to pivot screws so that the cleats may move independent for the desired angle correct?
Thx Dave

Dave, the cleats that I use are two 3/4" pieces together for 1 1/2" of height. The clamps that I use to hold the blank in place don't have a lot of adjustment for height so the cleat has to be close to the same height of the blank. The sled that I made has a wooden base and I use wood screws, screwed directly to the base to set the angle. You're correct on my using the pivot screws. I have some ideas for an improved sled using t/bolt tracks to hold the angle, I bought the t/bolt track and haven't had a chance to make a new sled to test as of yet. Ideally you should be able to move the cleats in any area and at any angle that you need. I posted a close up of the cleats and sled here [ link ]

looks awesome. Quick question, did you put the small red and white blocks there for clamping? And what type of glue do you use? I have been using titebond III. Thanks!!

Scott, I've been using Titebond III and Titebond Poly for most of my glue ups. Yes the little blocks are sacraficial and are only used to apply clamping pressure. I cut them off when I'm ready to turn the blank.

great, thanks Mark, I am just getting into it, and I feel it is becoming as addicting as rod building first was!
