The rod holder that you built is simple inexpensive, and if need be can be taken apart for transport.

I have found another style rod holder also works well that uses pvc pipe as well.
I simply take a 2X board. It may be a 2X6, 2X8, 2X10 or 2X12.
Then, I simply purchase one pvc pipe of the appropriate size to fit the rod handles to be stored.
Then, I use a flat bottmed bit to drill tight fitting holes, almost, but not quite through the 2X stock. I typically use pvc pipe pieces that are between 8 and 12 inches long - depending on the handle lengths.

If you happen to have a piece of 2X laying around, the only thing that you need to purchase is a $2 piece of pvc pipe.

However, the mount that you have made, is only a bit more expensive, considering the purchase of a few elbows and t's at a price of about 30 cents each.

Nice work.

wow what a great idea. i'm gonna make something like this to store rods in my van while dragging the trailer to go fishing. my rods are always banging around on the floor of the truck with coolers and tackle boxes sliding around. a rack like this with the rods angled at 30 degrees would be perfect.

thanks

Bob
