My son has wanted a fly rod and I promised him one for the last 2 years. I finally got his finished, it's a St. Croix 4wt 8'6". The grip is stabilized spalted maple (from Reelseatblanks.com) with a phelonic elliptical, the reel seat is a Struble downlocking with a pen blank insert from woodcraft. It should be 100% water proof and on time for his 16th birthday.

What son wouldn't want that? Beautiful job Mark. You've come a long way with your thread work as well!
