Sam I have a tree company removing all the downed trees in my yard and on my house that has Arbor Vitae Tree Service on the side of his truck. I thought it was fate that you posted the pictures - had no clue that it was a type of tree! It looks like that you have turned your rodbuilding into an art form instead of a building common fishing rods!

Bill, hope you came through this one ok.Since leaving the hurricane belt,we had to build a new place. In doing this I had to remove 2 large arbor vitae trees. These trees are usually a decorative bush but these were very old and about 18 inches in diameter. I've discovered that the wood is almost as light as cork when dried and has a beautiful golden color. We were paneling the basement when I figure out it could be used in rod handles.
