Hi Kerry, I wet and dry sand down to 800 grit then dry sand down to 2500 grit with reg sand paper then I go to the micro mess pad sanding and go all the way to 25,000 grit then apply the Permalyn sealer and let dry for 8-12 hrs then re sand with the micro pads from 10,000 to 25,000 then just wax I only use stabilized wood for my reel seats it would not do to have one chip or crack or swell up to the point that the rings would not work on a cane rod I sell if I can help or you need any more info just e mail me at kayaonekaya@yahoo.com and if you need to know were to get the supplys God Bless Jeff
