Just came across George Forster's post about triggerless casting seats and thought I'd share this contraption I did a few months ago. I wanted to turn a fly rod of mine into a crappie rod. Couldn't decide on casting or spinning setup. Then thought, why not both? A dual purpose backup rod that will work with any reel.
Trigger nub gives just enough grip while casting, and not enough of a bump to be in the way while spinning. In fact, the slight bump is actually quite comfortable. A very flexible seat. I may start doing this on all my low power rods, I like it so much

Thanks guys. Good to be back! hahaha. Been a busy year, plus getting computer time anymore is next to impossible.
Steven, it is a 8'5", 3pc, 4wt. Stripper is a BNHG 10 with 8 BLG 6's out to a 6 tip. If I'd had smaller ones at the time I would have used them, but this was a "use up some cheap spare parts" project. No fancy wrapping, just green/gold Trimar on guides and between split grip.
