Tom. The foam core grips look wonderfully light, but just how slick is the carbon skin? Nice photo and illustration!

How many coats of spray does it take to get a finish like that?

No, it's not slick. Read the RodMaker article on ergonomics in Volume 10 #3. Shape is what makes something either easy or difficult to hang onto, not slickness. It took 3 coats to get this level of finish. That's all.
