Clearing out some older photos and found this photo which was used on a cover a couple years back. One of the first surf rods I ever made, probably from the very early 1980's. It's a Fenwick SU1026 2-piece surf with shaded background wrap and EVA inlaid grips.

It was finished years ago. Click on the photo and blow it up a bit - that's the old Diamond II. Notice the white rod blank is still white, even just forward of the wrap where the inscription area is. Still the clearest epoxy that's ever been on the market - and it's still clear, 20+ years after it was applied.

Believe I have this issue at home. How do you ream out such large holes in the EVA? Doesn't look like the EVA is very thick between the inside and outside diameters.... if that makes any sense. Phil

That's probably some of the old Lew's Speed Grip material, some of which came in 1 inch ID. At the most I reamed it from 3/4 inch ID. You can do anything if you spend enough time at it, something which I used to have a lot more of than I do these days.
