This is my plumb bob for aligning tip tops on spiral wrapped rods. Just feed the loop through the tip top and drop the weight through. Just make sure that you level the reel seat.

The weight is 1/16 oz bullet weight.

How exactly is your device used to align your tip top when spiral wrapping?

I am not quite understanding your explaination. Sorry.

Thanks.

Tony,

Set the rod in your V blocks on on the rollers with the reel seat up. Place a small level on the reel seat and get it level. Glue up your tip top. Then run the loop through the tip top ring and drop the weight through the loop. It will pull the ring to the bottom of the rod. All you have to do is make sure that your plumb bob is centered on the ring and leave it alone until your epoxy is cured.

Hope this helps.

Joe,

The way that I'm understanding what you are saying then once the weight is slipped down the line and hits the tip top then the tip top would then turn upside down, right side up for a spiral wrap, but then the weight would fall down. I don't think this is the way that your method works. Please clarify. I apologize for the confusion on my part. Sorry. Thanks. TONY

Tony,
There is a knot at one end of the loop that won't pass through the weight. Once the weight drops down, it stops and hangs below the tip top. If this doesn't help, email me. You can find my email info over on the message board. I made a crude pdf file that might explain things a little better, that I can send you. Sorry, I couldn't find your email address.
Joe
