Mark,
Many thanks for the nice words. This is not new work and unfortunately I have been out of rod building since August 04.
Hope that all is well with you.
Best Regards
Eden

How did you do that White "Lighthouse Window" checkerboard-ish inlay at the end of the grip? What is the black material between the white? All the grips you turn are really sweet, knowing you do them by hand is just amazing.

Billy,
The inlay you refer to, was made like a regular checkerboard except that strips of ebony were inserted between each of 16 segments to yield a 32 piece ring. Thanks for the comment.

I have a quick question for you regarding wood veneers. A friend sent me some thin veneer which had tape backing, and he told me that they all come like that to prevent splitting. My question is where did you buy it from? I’m planning to try some ideas I have mixing wood veneer and Andy’s cork

Billy, I beleive that the inlay is actually solid wood cut at 11.25 degrees (to yeild 16 pieces) with thin strips of Ebony between them. It's hard to do especially with Ebony, it's very hard wood to start with but has a very beautiful deep dark black color.

MArk, I wasn't clear in my request. Where are you guys ordereing wood veneer without tape backing? I've done this same "lighthouse" in a couple of EVA grips, but I would like to try some stuff with cork and wood that I haven't seen anyone do yet. I'm jus tnot sure where to get teh wood veneer.

Billy I'm sorry I didn't understand your question at first. I just e/mailed you a link to Woodcraft where I get my inlays. They are with out any backing on them. Mark

Uh, that's embarrassing. I was Googling wood veneer and kept seeing all sort of stuff that was WAY MORE than I needed. I'm gonna check me Woodcraft catty and order from tehre....I had to order a small sanding thingy for my chisel anyhow, now at least I can justify the shipping cost.
