My flaming artwork leaves a lot to be desired but the bright red flames look great against the black carbon sleeve. Between the light refraction from the sleeve and multilayered flames it gets a dramatic 3D effect and beautiful contrast. If any of youz guyz are good at flames you gotta try this.

Oh... I did cheat a little and used red testors paint as a base for the first layer of flames because I didn't think the pigmented Diamondite would be opaque enough against the black background. I was afraid to mix in too much pigment.

Jim it really looks cool I like the effect very much. What type of finish do you use over the carbon fiber? Scott

Very cool and a great way to overcome a trouble spot when tucking/wrapping the carbon sleeve.

Thanks guys. The wet out is West systems 207 and then I roughed it up and used Diamondite for the flames and finish. And yes Mike, I colored the whole end with opaque pigmented Diamondite rather than bothering with a button or cap. That's when I got the idea to try flames. I'd like to see one of the pros do one of these because if my poor attempt looks this neat I imagine a professional job would look really awsome.

Thanks Russell. The photo doesn't do the effects justice but it sure does make my amaturish flames look nicer Smile

Thanks Bill. I gotta try this again and see if adding some orange and yellow might kick it up a few degrees. Another rod! Goody, goody:)
