3 years prior, Andy Dear had approached me on set up day to inquire if there were any hardware stores nearby. He said he was going to get some metal trash cans to put his blanks in - the only way he could figure he'd be able to easily display them all. He ended up with something like 4 shiny metal trash cans filled with thousands of rod blanks. On opening morning, some guy spotted them and began combing the aisles telling everyone, "Hey, there's a guy down here with trash cans full of rod blanks, I think he's throwing them away!" At that point, the legend of the "Trash Can Specials" was born. although the blanks were anything but trash. FishSticks4U continued the tradition this year.
