LAzy man's reel. Perfect for today's teenagers. THey dont' have to crank, tehy can pla videos games, make phone calls, and text their friends using the same reel, lol.

Bill, this reel is being used in Brazil for deep water fishing, between 300 and 450ft, using 10 to 16oz metal jigs for grouper.
You can imagine working such heavy jig in that depth and then haul it back with a fish that can weigh as much as 300lbs. If the angler were to use a conventional reel, he would only be able to drop once and maybe catch only one, before his arm fell off.
This tackle is primarily sold in Japan where the sea is very deep. Some places in Brazil are similar.
