WHOA!!! You managed to turn that bag of assorted stuff into that grip. That is absolutely stunning!!! EVA Egypt trim rings at each end with Burnt cork surrounding. The Elliptical is made out of Laguna burl as the main grip, and Burt with 1/24" Maple veneer in the middle. I cannot believe it looks that sharp, GREAT JOB!!

Thanks guys. All I did was glue up what Billy already made and did the sanding. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Billy did most of the work.

This grip set took Al about 20 minutes in labor to construct. All he had to do was glue the Egypt inlay pieces at each end to the Cork Elliptical in the middle (just like gluing 3 cork rings), and sand it down. To make this on your own, would probably take you at least 5 hours + all the tooling required, and the skills to do it, I've done the hard part for you making the various inlays, all you gotta do is pick the ones you like and glue them up like regular cork rings.

Hello! I was wondering if there were any books that would teach me how to make handles like these? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Don, there are no books specifically aimed at turning grips like these. There are a couple of books on segmented turning that may help you. A couple that I would recommend; The Art of Segmented Wood Turning: A Step-by-Step Guide by Malcolm Tibbetts, Woodturning with Ray Allen: A Master's Designs & Techniques for Segmented Bowls & Vessels by Dale L. Nish, and Segmented Turning: A Complete Guide by Ron Hampton. The books may not be a direct path, but the design and process is the same weather you're turning a bowl or a rod grip.
