Just a couple of grips that I recently finished. The upper lh is a Burl Walnut that BD Ehler was good enough to send me. It's water cured and hard as a rock, but beautiful grain. The center grip is walnut, bocote and bloodwood in a hybrid chevron design. The lower lh is my first attempt at a petal design, the wood is wenge, padauk, and maple.

Mark, one better than the other, but the petal design is awesome. Wonderful job. What finish did you use?

Beautifull as always Mark - I love that walnut burled fly grip - VERY classy and simple design to complement the grain in that wood.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe your work Mark. Beautiful is no where near enough.

Thanks Guys, segments are fun to mess with, but they will get the best of me from time to time. Jorge, the nice thing with the petal pattern is that you end up with two grips. The other isn't turned yet, but it's the negative of the one shown (maple main body with padauk and wenge petals). The finish is super glue (CA) sanded to 2000 grit and polished with white diamond. I really like the super glue finish, but I'm not sure how well it will protect against UV. UV will turn some of the woods darker and change the appearance of it. Time will tell, Thanks again for the kind words. Mark

Michael, Al, Mike, and Tony Thank you for the kind words. Billy the Marabou Mudders are for a decoration (lol). A friend tied them for me and is going to teach me how to use them, he says that they're good for Bass. I've built two fly rods over a year ago and have yet to get the line wet. I hope to remedy the situation this next year.

Terry, I prefer to think of it as an adoption (lol). It couldn't have gone to a better person, remember when you finish it I want to see pictures, lots of them.

Mark - thank you so much for the handles, I cannot believe they are that beautiful in person. It was great to meet you, as well as Terry this weekend - I look forward to doing it again over the course of the next couple of months.
