I was looking for a way to get my keeper off my rods and hit on this idea. After using these for a couple of months I'm happy with them. Of course, it won't work on all reels, but this may be a useful alternative for those with reels with suitable sideplate screws.

Wow! One minute I think "brilliant!" the next minute I think "yuk!" back & forth back & forth. I don't know why either! LOL Won't loose any sleep but might get a headache. Thanks!

Hi Raymond, I get the "yuk" part, it's certainly not a very elegant execution of the idea, LOL. But it works great and it's out of the way and unobrusive. In fact, none of the fishermen I've met since I installed them have even noticed them. Maybe someday I'll get the neighborhood metal fabricator to stamp out some high grade stainless steel models.
