He bought it from me, I didn't like the blank. SAturday was NICE out, I thnk mid 30's on the water. Friday was the cold day, it never got over 27 and it was pretty windy in the AM. If I go again I'll take a picture of what I look like so you can see. I go fom 210# to 325# in gear, lol.

Billy, nice looking rod. At least you didn't have to drill a hole to fish (lol).

No drillingholes, but on FRiday anyone who left their rod in te bow was unable to use it due to teh 1/2" thick ice which formed around the reel seat. Ralph, thanks, I'm gonna make another Blackfish grip but put it on a better blank for myself. That one took me 15 hours for the inlay, and another few for the rest of the grips. Not the kind of rod you want to dislike the first time you use it, lol.

Same here Scott. THanks. Dan, tehy are really simple to do, they just take a very long time. I don't consider it a "skill", like scrimshawing is (I think). ITs' simple as tracing and gluing together a puzzle.

I understand, seems like it's an exercise in patience (like a lot of other areas of rodbuilding. How do you deal with the seams?

MArk, it's a lot colder when the fishing sux. When you get on a roll and catch a couple, you warm up. Sinc I do not wear gloves, teh first fish makes my hand FREEZE, adn I'm forced into teh cabin for a bout in front of the heater. I usually have to do that twice before I'm good for the entire day.
