Roz love the color of the fish and your devotion to fishing. Remember all in fun! I can not understand why your Pacific Ocean is so big and the "red fishys" are so small. Check out the red ones that are in the tiny little Gulf of Mexico out of Venice, Louisiana. [ link ] Stuffed whole with crabmeat! Gon Fishn

Nice fish, is that a Red Snapper? What are you using for bait? It looks bigger than the Snapper.
Bill that ARS is a pig, Venice is on my short list of places I have to fish before I die.

If you will look at the pictures of the Grouper and Hoo which are listed on the Photo board next to the snapper. The same guy caught them all on the same day. Look at all the trophys in the back of his truck. It is a builders dream when customer has a day like that. All caught around a floater with big big chunks of bloody bonito. If you ever get a chance to fish Venice don't miss the opportunity - year round - don't matter.

thanks for the responses guys!!! As already mentioned, it's hard to tell if they are exactly the same species. In Australia, what we call Red Emperor, are from the Lutjanidae family...however that does cover many fish. Reds do grow to over 22kg (48lb)might try and dig up some photos of the big ones.
thanks again
