First?? Pretty darn good I'd say. Arrow straight & very tight! Looks like it closed very nicely too. I like the colors!

Really fine work. Arrow straight and nice and tight. Good color choices on the fade as well. Keep it up. Welcome to the addiction.

WOW!!! Thanks for the positive comments. Mark and Raymond scouts honour its my first go. I had a hard time with the layout as I dont have a jig. I just took my time and kept eyeballing it. The first coat of finish is on and did get some bleed. I really soaked it with 811 so dont know what happened there. I learned alot doing this wrap and it made my second alot easier and better IMO. The only problem was I used the wrong colour for my tie offs.

Very good for your first go at a rod. What you have here is a fade variation. I like it as it is very unusual and that suits me. I would have guessed you would get some bleed thru since your green blank is very dark and you used white and yellow. Those are the hardest two colors I know to avoid bleed thru for obvious reasons. There are several ways to avoid it. First, some folks put down white thread and one coat of epoxy. Other folks (like me) paint the rod white in the area where the wrap will be. Others try to use as many coats of color preserver as they think they can get away with. I am sure other folks have discovered other methods. It is a plague and I forget sometimes or change my mind in the middle of a wrap and use a very light color on a dark rod...gets me every time. Keep after it. You have a magnificent start!
