Doc Ski was nice enough to send me some Koa to play with. I really like the results, the finish is CA (super glue) and the accent wood is bloodwood. The Koa has almost an iridescent look with curly undertones. There is even some beer can trim in honor of Doc on the baitcaster.

Wonderful Mark. Is it a heavy or light wood?

Thanks Jeff and Jorge. Jeff the beer can trim is aluminum sheets (I use aluminum sofit material) sandwiched between the accent wood and the Koa. I like to kid Doc that I'm recycling his old beer cans for the trim. You can use old aluminum cans for trim as well. Jorge the wood is lighter than most hardwoods it's on par with most burl cork.

Thanks Putter, Doc was gracious enough to give me the Koa. It has a very unique look, it's almost iridescent and has curly undertones. Al Thanks for the kind words, I have been using super glue to finish my wooden grips as of late. It is a very hard and durable finish and quick to apply. Start to finish it takes about 15 minutes for the grip. The glue dries quickly and can be buffed to a gloss finish almost immediately. Ed, Terry, and Steve Thank you for the kind words as well.
