I have been working on a spiral grip. The grip is made of Cocobolo, Maple, Walnut, and Mahagony. I'm not sure about the proportions of the segments they may need to be thinner. It's my first attempt at this type of grip. It seems to have a retro look to it.

Very nice. I like the proportions, to my eye if they were smaller it would make it too busy, jmho.

Mark, it's out of this world. Keep the dimension and maybe have variation. Did you spray the reel seat also? It matches beautifully.

Thanks for the kind words. Anthony the reel seat was at the St. Croix factory when I was up there in August. They must have been prototypes that they were getting rid of. There were 4 of these in a box for $1.50 each, so I bought them all plus some others. They have a very nice look to them, it's just a little off from the Cocobolo. Btw a cross cut of the grip is right below the brick reel seat.

Mark - you really should do a DVD. This one is sweet!!! CA/BLO finish?

How many blanks did you buy when you were at St. Croix? I live about 1/2 hour away from Park Falls, I bought a bunch of those reelseats as well as some others, and managed to walk out of the store only buying 5 of the Avid closeout blanks. I called over there last week and I might be making another trip back :-)

Bill, it's a Forhan with no load on the checker LOL. Jeff, Steve and Marco thanks for the kind words. Rich I bought about 20 blanks in August and probably 15 reel seats. I spent more than I should have but at 1/2 price I couldn't pass them up. I don't think I can afford to live closer LOL.

MArk, I really like the photo and how you included a Where's Waldo key to unlock how you did it right there in front of our faces. Multi-tasking rules...and puts scraps to work.
