I made a couple of reel seat inserts in Joe Emig's style, but with Billy V's technique. The brick reel seat is made of walnut with maple veneer. It's made with 60 degree wedges. The grip is made with walnut and maple with brass trim, mounted on a 3S60MLF St Croix blank. I should add it has a super glue finish as well.

Guys, Thanks for the kind words. It's a rod for one of my wife’s relatives. I was fortunate enough to stop at the St. Croix factory and picked up some discontinued Avid blanks for half price still in the bags. With out labor I have about $60.00 in the whole rod. I think it looks and handles better than the Wal-Mart rods for the same price LOL. With labor I'd hate to think what I would need to get out of it.
