That's the top guide of a size 5 tip blank. Stan, unfortunately, this is not Titanium so I'm still overloading the blank which too much weight, lol.

Billy curious about a few things things: 1. Was this guide ring frame perpendicular at one time before loading? 2. How does the XMG compare to GUSA so far? 3. I have done builds on this blank and used Perma Gloss as the finish and wonder if you ever tried using it. If you notice the small amount of finish climb on your guide can be reduced using Perma Gloss and for such a small wrap surface it will produce a stronger and lighter wrap. 4. Do you feel due to the height of the guides that you were required to use too many to keep line "sawing" to a minimum. I am spiraling on these blanks to reduce number of guides and help with the blank loading.

Bill, that's the angle fo the guide, fortuntely. If it were straigh tit would be even harder to handle adn wrap. I cannot compare the XMG to GUSA or anything else because this blank is rated WAY lighter than anything I've ever built before. I have PG on a couple of spinning rods in which I may want to re-position/change colors on the guide wraps over the Winter after fishing the rods & seeing if I like the guide layout & sizes I used. Tst casting is difficult wiht such small guides as they like to move around.

Putter - thanks again. Look at the ruler, those small markins are millimeters, the 1 is a centimeter. Sighting down the blank it looks like there are 3 REC's and then a tip top and nothing else, as the width of the frame is thinner than the blank. Bob McKamey will be stocking these guide from Batson in the near future, so it shoudl be interesting to hear some of the tips & trick for wrapping them come out at some point.

Billy, I really like the looks of these guides. I think there will be a learning curve for wraps and such but I really think these will be the way to go.

Mark, the only problem I have with this guide is the tip top. I cannot use a guide because my stuff gets beat up pretty good - this rod is going to be sent back and forth on an airplane, where I've had heavy MNST 12-10 tip tops FLATTENED. SO there is an angle where the tip & first guide are, which I do not like. THE tip top I used was a Fuji ULST 4-2mm, which is made for Telescoping rods.

Billy, I have dainty little fingers and handling these are easy and no more difficult than the small snake guides on a 00 weight fly rod. But I can't see very well, so we have the same problem.

Billy nasty little secret - single thread metallic trim band - make one loop of metallic thread around blank and snug into place against thread - long ends on both ends holding in your hand - there will be simply a half hitch around rod blank - about a 1/2 inch away from blank dot thread with Super Glue - simply pull on end on thread keeping tension on the other end and pull the 1/2 hitch surface of thread holding glue into place - hold tight for 15 seconds - release and trim with cuticle nippers.

Bill, I'm allergic to glue & masking tape. My friend Pat Barnard sent me instructions on how to do a single trim several years ago which is very similar....basically after making the overhand knot start teh main guide wrap over both tag ends for the single trim, make a few turns, pull teh tag ends tight and trim. His method was for adding a single trim in seperating a color change wrap, but it does work on a regular guide wrap as well.

I hate anything that small but instead of using super glue I just heat the foot of the guide and lay a thin film of hot glue under it. To use it I just heat it again and press the foot on the blank and it sticks on the blank like a post it pad LOL!

Dillon, have fun doing that with this small guide. I was able to do it, but it took some attempts to be sucessful. VERY hard to heat only a guide when it is this small. Order some on your next order and you'll see for yourself.
