GLoomis IMX 6-10# revolver wraped with blue/gold guides and a Mudhole maple reel seat. Split grip with checkerboard accent rings of ash and mahogany with a thin piece of aluminum just to brighten things up. The buttcap is hollowed out and gold leafed with a Lapis Lazuli cabochon under flexcoat. This is the first rod I have made as with my new company "Cabochon Rods". In the near future, I will be selling my custom rods out of the local Bass Pro Shop.

Thanks for the kind words. To be perfectly honest, there are things I really dislike about this rod. The transition from the reel seat to the handle is horrible to me. I tried using bigger checkerboard rings and sanding them flat alog the sides like the reel seat but the way I make my checkers prevents me from doing that without nasty results. The rod has great balance and the best components that could be bought. I wrapped the buttwrap too tight and it was a real pain to pack straight. The finish on the Gloomis IMX doesn't help as it's a flat finish and it really grips the thread. The cabochon in the butt cap, while only cosmetic and not functional, gives me that little something different needed to sell a very high dollar rod. Material cost alone on this rod was over $225. This and a soon to be made spinning rod will be going to the owner of the Destin, FL Bass Pro Shop for display in the store. They want me to man a booth once a month or so to take orders and demonstrate how to make a rod. My work pales in comparison to ALOT of forum members and I just got lucky and happen to be in the right place at the right time to slide right into the opportunity of a lifetime.
