Hi Jeff, I like to use the caps from Elmer's crayons( ColorSlicks ), the red, blue and green work the best I think. A clear cap would be ideal so that the cap turned the exact color of the bait. You will have to experiment to find a clear cap out of the right plastic that will not interact with the plastic bait and melt the cap. I forget what brand I used about eight years ago, it was a clear cap and worked perfect, I do know they discontinued that pen and I was pretty bummed out. A lot of pen caps will work as long as the pen cap has a nice point and it smooth to the point on the inside. Have a great day, Rich.
