I think the testing period on my 5 pce light spin rod is well and truly over. This barramundi measured 30 inches, weighed around 10 lbs. Taken on an extended All Star 2-6 lb spin rod that I made into a travel rod. Fished 8 lb braid on my Shimano Biomaster 1000.

Thank you. Marco, the barramundi is very much like the snook. Same habitat, same habits and feeding patterns. In fact they are related to the snook and the African Nile perch.
They grow to almost 2 metres in length and around 40 kilos. This one, at 80 cm, is a baby compared to that. The benchmark for a big barramundi is 1 metre in length. I have been lucky enough to land one of those too.
