Looks great Bill. I remembered little about that seat in a prior post. I am interested in it.

Bill I too like the looks of the new seat. Any idea when they will be marketing it?

Final design in production at present - Castaway - these are field test samples and they are fine fine fine! Marketing to custom builders not finalized at present. Hopefully a month should be time to shake it all out.

I like the textured grips, are they regular flock?
This may not be the same reel seat but here is a very similar seat from CUI- [ link ]

Stan do you have one of the CUI seats? Is the front end full fit to the blank where completely solid with no arbor or closure needed? Or does anyone know? The textured grips are foam based, very light, comfortable in hand and provide a firm grip when wet.

Bill yes the front barrel section comes already arbored. I like the CUI seat except for 2 things it's actually heavier than a fuji ecsm seat (1oz vs .88oz)and the nut on the hood has a ring around it that could be finished better.
The textured grips sound cool are you making them or are they a Castaway product also? Thanks.

Comparative weights for a Size 16 - 13.0 Barrel in grams. Batson 0.8, Fuji 0.9 and Castaway 0.8. I do not use any "as is" and cut 5/8 from barrel. Castaway cut to length 0.7 gr. Castaway are not for sale at present and are undergoing field testing. I have had Bass rods and inshore popping rods in service for 45 days. Prior to using these I cut Fujis as per instructions of Rich Forhan and infomration in Rodmaker Magazine RF Lite Reel Seat article. The textured flocking I am doing in our shop. The seats will available by a board sponsor when testing completed and marketing approved.

Pete if you concern about the ESCM involves the reels like Curado and Callais popping loose, usually the rear foot coming loose, the new one has made a change that completely stops this from happening. The fix did not involve the hood.

The answer to this problem is not with the threads or the hood. The recess in the Fuji ESCM rear has design flaws when matched up with the Curado Feet.
