After first build of my Revo i wasnt pleased, the rod was very tip heavy. Hence I rebuild all below winding check, coz wanted to save feather inlays.
Handle is fitted to rod from bottom, new reel seat assemled and rod length was increased with stainless steel tube fitted inside blank so lower handle could be installed. Now rod is more balanced.
More info and details can be found at my website:

Thanks guys
Rich, yes it's masur birch, we call it visa birch though. This piece is originated from Russia. I work in paper mill and came across this log at work as it's reject for pulp raw material. I gladly grabbed few pieces from that trunk. Fortunately this piece is something I havn't seen before, it's highly grained with strong dark accents in there, dark parts looks like wood has already decayed, but no it's as hard as rest of the wood.

It's beautifull wood! Maybe some bark inclusion in the wood? I love it.
