Ken,
I think that you did a nice job on the rod and I like the colors you selected. But I am curious why you did not use guides with ceramic inserts.

Hi Emory, I chose the Perfection/Pac Bay guides specifically because they didn't have inserts. Most of my reels have Spectra, and I fish fairly short top shots of Mono or Flourocarbon, consequently, the flouro to Spectra connection knot often comes into play. I've seen too many guides pop out a insert with this type of continuous casting. Most of the jig sticks (at least in So Cal) are built this way. (Notable exception some of the new factory Super Seekers) Besides I like the gold guides, and have several matching rods with the same guides.

Where did you purchase those guides, I've been searching all over for a vendor without any luck,,HELP!!

Walter... I got them from Squidco here in San Diego. Give them a call...619-222-8955. Not sure how much they have left in inventory, but they said they were expecting more. They also come in a black chrome, or the usual silver finish.
