My first attempt trying elliptical patterns using the square stock that I got from woodturningz. A learning process. Mainly learing that the pattern shrinks as you lathe it down. Thanks Clive you forgot to tell me that part. LOL This piece ended up to long for what I wanted it for and just did not fit the over all look. But it has me planning for the next time.

Very nice Alan, one trick I have found to keep the ellipicals aligned. I put a witness mark (triangle shaped) across the area before I cut. It gives me two more reference points to help realign the elliptical and keep all the points in line. I do like the look of the material, and the ellipticals are a lot of fun to work with.
