Nice, what do you think of the thread? I'm thinking of buying the 26 color box but I've never used it. Does it fray or is it hard to work with?

To be honest, it's more tame than Gudebrod,it doesn't twist up that badly or frey; Its alot easier to work with...BUT the thread blends into itself and you can't really see the individual thread when its wrapped... you know what I mean? So thats what you sacrafice.... I'll tell you what is AWESOME thread though... the Polyester 'Madera' brand thread made in Germany... What a pleasure to work with. I don't think I'll ever use another brand. You can check it out at mudhole.com. It's alot CHEAPER too! And they say the color doesn't fade. I didn't see any metalic colors though.

Actually, I just glassed the polyester Madera thread, and I'm disappointed because the thread becomes transparent after glassing it. I wish I would have known that... oh well.. the rod came out nice but different than what i expected..... most of you guys probably know about this bad quality that polyester has when glassed.... i'll post pics.

You need to use CP on madiera, or for that matter ANY light thread or it will turn translucent

Really? Because I've used Gudebrod all along and it never turned so badly? So if I do a Chevron wrap like a sunrise wrap, using lighter to dark colors, then I should use a color preserve? Even with Gudebrod? I don't want to make this same mistake 2x.... your feedback will be helpful. Thanks.

The madeira threads require Color Protectant. Gudebrod depends on if you are using NCP (no color preserver needed) or nylon. If you are using nylon gudebrod you should also use a CP.

Hope this helps you!!!

Nice work by the way
