This rod was built for a friend who had been struggling with cancer for quite some time. The way he handled the card he was dealt was an inspiration to all who knew him. Some of the guys had plans in the works to make his dream of catching a yellowtail from a kayak come true... that's what this rod was for. Unfortunately he passed away before the rod was finished. His Mom will recieve the rod as a memorial after his brothers and friends use it to catch some yellowtail in June as a way of remembering their brother and friend. RIP Steve Blackwell (aka. Jade Pirate)

I had a rod in progress and just about finished when a buddy passed unexpectedly from a heart attack. It took a few before I was able to finish it due to the pain in my heart,I also wanted the end result to be a fitting memorial to a great striper fisherman and friend. When I presented it to the family they were speechless. The boys wanted to know the best way to dislpay it and I told them at the side of the river with a fish on!Nice tribute Erik, what better of a way is there to remember a tough fighter than when fighting a tough fish.
