Great idea. Too bad the Gold plating on the screw adds so much weight. lol!! You fish little dinky rods like that?

cool idea - what did you use to drill the holes in the graphite tubing? Also - are the brass screws comfortable to hold onto?

Billy, the blank is small, but I think that meaty hand makes it look smaller.
Rich, I was worried about that, but I honestly can't even feel them. I don't know if it is where they fall in my hand, or the meaty hand issue. I just drilled the tubing with a regular bit.

Looks really nice. What if you countersunk the holes in the reel and used a different screw? That should allow the screws to sit flush and you wouldn't feel them. Thanks for the pic.

Thanks Mark. Stan, I thought about countersinking the holes, but that was before I realized that they have to be drilled from the bottom of the reel foot. The body of the reel is in the way when drilling. They are #6 screws, and I really can't feel the screw heads at all.

Hey Joe, I love to see your work when you play its always interesting! Perhaps there could be away to make the seat adjustable to move up or down the blank? That would make balencing a breeze
