Hey Everyone, Well, here it is.... My first rod, just came off the dryer yesterday. It's a tuna stick that I built for an upcoming trip to Manzanillo, Mexico. The blank is a 6 foot Seeker S660XXH long range, rated for 50 - 130 lb. line. For you Cali boys, this rod will be matched with my new Avet 50 EX/Pro SDS (San Diego Special) topless. The chevron fade wrap was done with all Gudebrod size A thread, six colors. Started with 9001 black, then 9245 royal blue, then 9050 electric blue, then 9037 ice blue, then 9006 steel blue and ended with 9002 silver. Guides were done with A size underwrap of silver and single thread ice blue inlay, then first overwrap was black D and second overwrap was D in ice blue with silver inlay. I wanted to keep the guides somewhat plain to match the reel... kind of that cold steel look.
Thanks to everyone for your help and support. I know I probably asked a lot of questions that seemed mindless at the time, but when your first rod is a 130lb. class rig, I was a little nervous about screwing something up. Thanks especially to Doc Ski for your patience and also convincing me to do the fade one-thread-at-a-time; really made a huge difference in the end.... and I've almost forgotten the extra 10 hours it took to do it that way ;-).
Any constructive criticism would be very much appreciated.
