Bill, I like the looks of your new rod and reel but how big are your bream? Mark B.

This is "old" Loomis 12 wt rod owned by my present customer. The Abyss reel has a lever action drag with up to 20 # settings. I am building him a new rod to conform to the new IGFA standards. He will be hunting a 200 # yellow fin "bream" when done. CTS 16/18 wt Revo 8' 4" Cobalt Blue one piece blank, Fuji Gold Cermets, AFTCO convertable gimble, burl casting and Hypalon fighting grip all topped off with Joe Emig's special touch. A preliminary sketch of the transition work by Joe between the foregrip sections is now posted. This has turned into the experience of a lifetime for a commercial popping rod builder.

You can tell I don't get around salt water much, our "bream" get to about 10" and 1 to 1 1/2 pounds. I thought that it seemed like over kill for a WI bluegill LOL. MB

Art, I was lucky enough to catch one on lake Mendota about 3 years ago that went 10.5" I never weighed the fish but I would imagine that is was 1.5 pounds. It hit a slip bobber and I thought it was a Bass because it was ripping out drag like crazy on my ultra light. I haven't found another like since but I keep hearing fish stories about large gills on Lake Geneva and hope to make it down to try for them some time.
