You could always cut off the female ferrule and make a new ferrule. Good practice and you might end up with a better ferrule anyway.

I know Mick, I sent the rod back to the manufacturer who inspected the ferrule and deemed it OK. Not long into each fishing outing it's loose. I'll saw out the feather inlay and keep it as a momento.

Jeff, I also would have to go with the recommendation to attempt a rebuild on the ferrule. Worst that will happen is that it won't work or break during a test and you'll be no worse off. Plus, you have a real good chance of pulling it off!
Give it a go man... for me, at least!! If nothing else, it makes a nice display rod for prospective customers.

That feather is beautiful. Hope you fixed the furrel ? Have you tried several coats of Permagloss to take up the slack ?
