My second handle, and first attempt with birch bark. It was a LOT of work prepping the bark, and gluing it all together. Unlike cork, it can be turned, and that was a lot of fun. The end caps are cocobolo sandwiched around briar (the wood used for tobacco pipes).

That's handle is as purty as a newborn coyote. Seriously, it looks very good for your first birch handle.

Thanks guys. I cannot wait to finish the assembly and get the rod out on the water. I'm anxious to test the feel in real-life conditions. I anticipate liking it a lot!
