Heres my design for a rod building bench. I made it out of oak and the extentions can fold down when not in use. I enjoy woodworking so I tried to make it look like a piece of furniture so my wife would let me bring it home. I also made the lathe in the pcture.

Really great work station AND lathe!! I like the bottom bit for your feet. Do you think your lathe bed will twist any with it being wood? Nice work!!

Very nice. What did you use for a motor? If only my work area looked as organized. Mark

Scott, I think the bed of the lathe shoud remain true. I sealed the wood and then applied 4 coats of polyurethane. Mark, I picked up a used sewing machine motor from a repair shop for $10.00 dollars.

That has got to be the most attractive custom built rod building facility that I've ever seen. Awesome work!
