The saw that I used to cut split rings left to wide a gap. I cut the rings in half using a rubber mallet and a utility knife blade. The rings are held in place with one inch diameter rubber bands while gluing.

I bought both jigs from Custom Tackle. There is another jig that I forgot to photograph and is used for slicing rings. Custom Tackle has very good service.

Ellis, I use an Exacto saw that works really well for doing this. The blade is very thin and needs to be treated with some care but it does have a reinforced back. It was around $7-8 at a hobby store.
