From time to time, I mention on the board using a Phillipson spin/fly seat. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. The black aluminum seat slides along the cork and then locks down by pressing the reel foot into the cork when the seat ring is tightened. This particular rod is built on the TFO Pro series 9' 10wt. 4pc. Handle is 16" total length, including slightly flared butt behind seat. Very comfortable, versatile, lightweight, and functional handle design. I think you can buy these seats from Rick's Rods in Denver.

Thanks to Steve I have a rod that he made up in this manner. It is a TFO 9, 5Wt. and performs very well with a fly or spinning reel. This seat provides a truly practical and versatile way to make a dual purpose rod.

Thanks Steve. Been planning for a few weeks on a convertible for myself. This is one more option I can chew on now. Very cool possibilities for many rods with one of these.
