Very Nice!!! How durable is that wrap/finish on the reel seat with the reel rubbing on it?? Did you sand down the barrel or anything to compensate for the increased diameter of the thread? I really like it!! Mike mbarkley@wowway.com

To answer your question, Mike there is no damage to my reel seat I wrapped on my Redfish rod even after 40-50 outings. I have caught tons of fish and even a 4 foot shark off this rod since I made it and as you can see from this picture:

The only damage, as indicated by the arrows, is where the reel has set itself into the epoxy. Its not torn, rubbed, or otherwise damaged. It is still water tight and there is no thread fray at all. I didn't sand down the reel seat or do anything special. I just wrapped it and put on 2 coats of flex coat high build. I would actually say that it gives me more feel from the reel as it basically hasbecome part of the seat and doesn't shift at all.

Mike, a lot of reel feet are convex so they only touch the seat underneath the hoods, never in the middle of the reel seat. Take a look at some of your most used rods, you can see the depression teh reel feet made on teh threads of the seat, but barely anythign on the middle of teh seat. PS - very nice job on the seat.

PPS - I just looked at the photo, I was referring to conventional reel feet, not spinning.
