Grip inlays on my latest rod. GRip inlays inspired by Bernie Cohen, Ray Jorgensen, Mike Cricton, and lots of pool cues, lol.
50 hours to make the grips. Rod will be on display in High Point, provided I dont' break it in a couple of weeks in the Tortuga's, lol.

That's truly outstanding work, Billy. I love them. I still have trouble doing a simple, one color shape, which makes these even more amazing to me.

Billy, generally getting clean edges/lines. I haven't quite found the knack yet, but I'm getting closer. Gonna be a long time before I can do something like these though. I especially like the 3-D effect of the sword. Great job.

Mick, feel free to e-mail me your procedure, and I will try my best to help you through some of the problems you are running into. Regardless of how clean you cut teh edges, it seems when you glue them in it's no longer a straight line. It's not like wood where if you cut out a diamond, and inlay a diamond, you end up with a diamond, lol. With foam, an edge gets stuck, one side gets compressed, tehre's a million things that can go wrong, and always seem to, lol.

Jim - I had another inlay I planned to put in the grip, but MAY make that my first weave, which is a perfect theme for this rod. Will see. Mark, thank you. Ralph, thank you as well - the colors werent' really hard to pick, lol. To me that color Maroon is a "Royalty" color, and I happened to have several shades of grey EVA, and I put most of them to use in this grip. This is as close to shading with EVA as I think I can get, and I'm extremely pleased with the results - rarely the case.

Billy-Your art work is simply amazing. Think its great that you are carrying on the work of Bernie Cohen who also inspired me to use the same technique for my fish image feather inlays.

It will be a shame for someone to get fish slime all over these.
